I was lucky enough to see a performance of "The Vertical Hour" on December 8th, 2006 with my mother and brother. We flew to New York all the way from Texas and it was worth every penny.

We all enjoyed the play very much and it is a wonderful piece of theatre. I am not an expert at reviews but everyone gets a big thumb's up. The most enjoyable part for me was seeing Bill do what he does best live and in person. It is very neat to see him doing his little mannerisms while acting and quite a treat.

After the performance we were lucky enough to meet Bill outside the stage door of the theatre. Bill came outside 15-20 minutes after the play was over with Richard Curtis (writer of Love Actually and Girl in the Cafe among others) in tow, whom had seen the play as well that night. We met Bill after two or three others in line and it was more than we could have hoped for. Bill is such a gentleman and a gracious and kind person. He spent several minutes with us talking, taking photographs, and signing our playbills and my brother's newly acquired Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest DVD. I thanked him for replying to a letter I had written him earlier in the year and he said he thought my name looked familiar. He must have an amazing memory and he said that he likes to do nice things for his fans like reply to their mail when he is able to. That says a lot about his good character. He shook our hands and moved on to the next person waiting to meet him.

Incidentally my brother had forgotten to ask Bill to personalise his autograph on his DVD and asked Bill if he would. Bill was more than willing to do so and he spoke with us a few more minutes, shook our hands again, then left walking down the street with Richard Curtis.

It was such a pleasure to meet Mr. Nighy and be able to tell him how much we appreciate his work and what he does for his fans. It is a dream come true.

Thank you so much Mr. Nighy for everything.
