In 2003 a myth was born, when Disney's ''Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl'' hit cinemas all over the world. Jack Sparrow, portrayed by Johnny Depp, became a hero, and pirates the new hobbits.
In 2005 the production for part 2 started. Dead Man's Chest. The new villain in this film was a legend. The ghostly Davy Jones, collector of souls, on his ship the Flying Dutchman. Bill Nighy was casted as Davy Jones and spent about 9 months in the Caribbean and Los Angeles to do the main shootings (followed by more work in 2006).
The work was rewarded. The film that came to cinemas in summer 2006, starring Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley, Orlando Bloom, Stellan Skarsgard and the CGI version of Bill's character Davy Jones, is now the third-best selling film of all times following ''Titanic'' and ''Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King''. And CGI hit a new level, when the tentacle-wearing Davy Jones combined the perfectly realistic impression of a being half human, half squid and Bill's acting.
