23-12-2005 ☼ The teaser trailer for ''Stormbreaker'' is out on the official site. Well... Bill's name is listed. The opening dates will be the 21-07-2006 for the UK, 18-08-2006 in the USA.

 

16-12-2005 ☼ Christmas is all around. And since it's very unlikely that Bill will sit under each and every christmas tree, just because he's on our wish lists - Here are some dates for UK residents to watch Bill on TV during the holidays:

''Love Actually'' will be shown on 24th December at 10:00 p.m. on Sky Movies 1.

''Ready When you are, Mr McGill'' will be shown on 26th December at 11.05 p.m. on ITV1. BBC2 will repeat ''The Lost Prince'' on 1st January at 5.30 p.m. and 2nd January at 6.30 p.m.

15-12-2005 ☼ The opening date for Dreamworks animation film ''Flushed Away'' will be November 3rd for the USA. Europe will follow later in November and December. Bill's lending his voice to rat Whitey.

 

13-12-2005 ☼ Bill has been nominated for a Golden Globe for his role in ''The Girl In The Cafe'' (actor, TV mini series or movie). The competition's heavy with names like Kenneth Brannagh, Ed Harris or Donald Sutherland. (Kelly MacDonald is nominated, too, btw) See the full list of nominations here. 

 

12-12-2005 ☼ The official website for ''Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest'' is now open and filled with contents like trailer, galleries, downloads.

 

30-11-2005 ☼ ''Gideon's Daughter'' that's due for TV broadcasting in February and March will see a very quick DVD release. the UK will get the DVD 06-03-2006. You can preorder now at the usual traders. Play.com listed cast interviews, an interview with writer Stephen Poliakoff and a photo gallery as extras.

Also, the exact date for US broadcasting on BBC America will be March 23rd.

 

25-11-2005 ☼ ''Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest'' finally has a trailer! You can watch it here. Only one short and very dark sight of Bill's Davey Jones, but You can hear Bill's very spooky voice for a while.

 

15-11-2005 ☼ Details on BBC TV film ''Gideon's Daughter''. It was on the Hamptons International Film Festival in October. You can find out more on their site by clicking on the film title in the list. Wireimage offers some premiere photos dated October 21st. Also imdb is listing the starting dates February 2006 for the UK, March 2006 for the USA.

 

10-11-2005 ☼ Leprosy Relief Association LEPRA is launching its fourth annual celebrity auction for charity. This year it's backed by actor/comedian Mel Smith (Not the Nine O'Clock News, Alas Smith And Jones). This year's motto ''The Race against time'' recommended the items to put up for auction: Watches. One of those watches, a Louis Arden men's watch, was donated by - yes - Bill Nighy. Others come from illustrious names such as Ewan McGregor, Jude Law, Emma Thompson or Eric Clapton. The auction will take place on Ebay’s charity site, starting 18-11-2005. 07-11-2005 ☼ Methuen Publishers is about to publish the screenplay for ''Gideon's Daughter'', the new Stephen Poliakoff film that will feature Bill as Gideon. Find out more.

 

05-11-2005 ☼ New charity auction. The Devon Wildlife trust asked a bunch of England's finest celebs to do Dragonfly Doodles. Amongst them will be of course Bill, along with artists like Phil Collins, John Cleese or Kate Winslet. The artworks will be put on ebay between October 17th and December 12th. Bill's doodle will be up November 21st. Find out more.

 

25-10-2005 ☼ Along with his co-stars Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz Bill Nighy is shortlisted for a BIFA (British Independent Film Award) for his appearance in ''The Constant Gardener''. His nomination is for ''best supporting actor''. The winners will be announced November 30th. More on the BIFA's site.

04-10-2005 ☼ British indierock band The Kaiser Chiefs will have their forthcoming DVD ''Enjoyment - The Film'' narrated by Bill Nighy. the disc will be availabe late November. The band by the way told now that Bill can even be seen shortly saying ''Hello'' on the film material. More and more.

 

30-09-2005 ☼ As part of the Pushing The Envelope worldwide charity auction, Bill Nighy has designed a unique envelope which will be auctioned on eBay. The bidding commences on the 3rd of October at 11 am. Also: Daily Mail offers some more details on ''Notes on a Scandal''. Bill is mentioned to play the on-screen husband of Cate Blanchett.

18-08-2005 ☼ Hello Magazine mentions Bill working together with Cate Blanchett and Judi Dench in London on the film ''Notes on a Scandal'' after a book by Zoe Heller. The film will be probably out in 2006.

07-08-2005 ☼ A weekend of pure Nighy will be offered by BBC Radio 7. It will be holding a ''Bill Nighy weekend'' August 13th & 14th. A total of 4 (!) radio plays plus a brandnew exclusive interview with Bill himself shouldn't be missed. So have Your online streamers ready!

06-08-2005 ☼ Here is a first sketch of what Bill will look like in "Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest''.

TV station Discovery Channel hired Bill as narrator for an upcoming animal documentary. ''Meerkat Manor'' will be the title of the documentary, which Bill described as a ''meercat soap'' in a radio interview.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide To the Galaxy" will be out on DVD 09-09-2005 in the UK, 13-09-2005 in the USA.

South Africa will be the place to fall in ''Disgrace''. In this film after a novel by J.M. Coetzee Bill will be the main character as Robert Langdon, a University professor having an affair with one of his students. It's scheduled for 2006.

30-06-2005 ☼ News about Mr. Blunt! Who? Well, this will be the name of Bill's character in ''Stormbreaker''. He'll be playing alongside names such as Ewan McGregor, Alicia Silverstone and Mickey Rourke. Find out more about the upcoming film on the site of Scotsman Magazine (inactive link).

 

26-06-2005 ☼ In an interview Bill talked about a new film project. The film will be called ''Stormbreaker''. Bill's character, as he said, reminds a little to M from the James Bond movies.

BTW: ''The Girl In The Cafe'' was aired yesterday and at the moment the internet is bursting with praise.

 

09-06-2005 ☼ "The Constant Gardener" a film after a book by John Le Carré finally has a release date. It will be out August, 26th. Along with Bill illustrious names like Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz are joining.

 

06-06-2005 ☼ HBO offers a page for "The Girl In The Cafè" which also contains a short, but very charming preview.

 

30-05-2005 ☼ July 25th will see the very quick release of "The Girl In The Café" on DVD. 

Also: "The Curse Of The Pink Panther" should come on DVD 27-10-2005.

 

22-05-2005 ☼ CSA Word will be publishing an audiobook named "Short Stories: The ultimate modern collection" which will contain Bill Nighy's lovely voice along with others. Release date: 14-12-2005.

Also: Out on DVD will be a collection of animated versions of Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales", where Bill is voicing the Merchant. You can preorder both items at the usual places.

 

09-05-2005 ☼ Richard Curtis' "The Girl In The Café", being produced as part of the "Make Poverty History" campaign and starring Bill Nighy, will have its premiere on Thursday, May 26, at the Cameo Theatre in Edinburgh, Scotland.

As the Orion Publishing Group informed me, Weidenfeld & Nicolson is no longer proceeding the official biography on Bill, that was due for October 13th. In fact it was Bill who decided against it. Let's hope he'll give us a chance to find out more about one of the most interesting lifes in show business in the future. Till then You'll have to settle with the biography You can find on this very website. ;o)

20-04-2005 ☼ Bill appeared at the BAFTA television gala on 17-04-2005 in London to hand over the award for best actress to Anamaria Marinca.

 

12-04-2005 ☼ IMDB finally has listed Bill in the cast of "Pirates Of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest". And the first summaries offer some really great news. The character of Davy Jones (who will be portrayed by Bill) will obviously be the top opponent of Johnny Depp's character Jack Sparrow.

 

10-04-2005 ☼ The release for "The Magic Roundabout" on DVD is announced for July 18th. Also available will be a 2-DVD special edition.

 

22-03-2005 ☼ The official site of "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy" shows the first picture and sound impression of Bill Nighy as Slartibartfast! Get over the intro and click "characters" There are also some more small pics spread on that site.

 

11-03-2005 ☼ A fantastic bit of good news comes directly from Bill Nighy's sister, Mrs. Anna Austin: Bill will be flying to Los Angeles this very weekend to play a pirate in the sequel to "Pirates Of The Caribbean" - Dead Man's Chest!

Plus he's even credited for Pirates Of The Caribbean Pt. 3. His character in both parts will be named Davey Jones.
