In Stephen Poliakoff's (Gideon's Daughter) two parted TV film about ''the prince that history forgot'', Bill Nighy is playing Stamfordham, King George V's consultant. The film's telling the tragic story of Prince Johnnie, the youngest son of King George (Tom Hollander) and Queen Mary (Miranda Richardson) who suffers from epileptic fits and therefore seems to be mentally disabled. This happens with the background of European history of early 20th century - The Great War, the fall of the Russian Empire, and how the House of Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha became the House of Windsor.
In 2003 Bill received the Broadcasting Press Guild Award as best actor.
